The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2

Last night was the sneak preview* of "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" movie. My grandmother takes my younger brothers and I to see the previews of almost ALL the movies that come out. {rated G, PG, PG 13.} Well since this was a girly movie I was allowed to invite my friends instead of the boys. Mckinzie and Jordan went with me. The movie was REALLY good but I don't want to give anything away so I will tell you about what happened BEFORE the movie... On our way to the theater, we stopped at Chick-fil-A to eat. Then about 10-15 minutes before the movie started we were playing truth-or-dare. Mckinzie had a dare to eat a VERY salty piece of popcorn. We had loads of butter on the popcorn and Jordan likes a little extra salt on her popcorn so we got a small container of salt for her to pour on it. I found a really buttered piece and Jordan rolled it in the salt. Mckinzie ate it!! Then she realized she had no drink left! {we bought a large and each had a smaller cup to drink from...we get a free refill on the drink and my Grandma's friend needed the empty large cup to get us the refill when Mckinzie ate the popcorn.} Well it was about 5, maybe 10 minutes later when Mckinzie got a drink. Then, during the movie she tried to pour the rest of the salt in to the bag Jordan and I were sharing, which is when Jordan and I stopped eating it! We had an awesome time going as a group though.

*sneak preview: when all the critics see the movie and write the reviews...Mckinzie loves going because we get posters for the movie and sometimes they have other free stuff...

BHS...day 4

Today was the last day of the Gap camp. My group met Mrs. Allen, the guidance counseler. She talked to us about what we needed to do in order to graduate. Then we went into Ms. Sainz classroom for science. We learned about the rock cycle and did a fun "experiment" about rocks. We got 2-3 crayons {with the paper off} and shaved them with a pair of scissors. The shavings went into a little tin foil cup. Then we packed the shavings together to make a "sedimentary rock." Ms. Sainz heated the "rock" so that it formed "metamorphic rock." Then we kept heating it so it made "igneous rock." We let our crayon rocks cool off then took them out of the foil cup. On the top it was just one color, but when you flipped it over it was almost tie-dyed. My "rock" was green on top and green, light green and red on the bottom. It was REALLY COOL!! After that we went to the cafeteria to meet the rest of the kids. As a whole group we played a game called "Don't be a Dot." All the kids were given a sticky note. Only 5 out of 80 sticky notes had a dot. We had to try and be the biggest group that had no *dot kids* in it. You were not allowed to show anyone your sticky note and you could ask if the person was a *dot kid* but they could lie and say no. Mckinzie wasn't listening to the rules and showed EVERYONE that she was a dot. No group wanted her in the group because they would loose if she was. She was left to be in a group by herself... But the group that won wasn't any of the groups Mckinzie wanted to be in anyway... The group that won only had 2 kids in it. After that game some parents came to school to listen to the teachers talk about Gap and AVID. We ate pizza, and chips, with soda and water to drink. Then everyone went home until the 14th {open house} or the 18th {1st day of school!!}

BHS...day 3

Today was day 3 of the Gap camp. My group met Ms. Hutches, one of the english teachers. We looked at some inventions people made and designed one that would change our life in groups of three. My 3 person group designed the "mini reading bookshelf." It has speakers and a tv built in. You put any book on it and it reads to you, or you can read the words off the screen. Then in our assigned groups with the volunteers we did a scavenger hunt to find our way around the school. It is a HUGE school! You can VERY easily get lost. We came back to the cafeteria and played a hula hoop game where we got in a circle and held hands. Then we had to get the hola hoop around the circle...TWICE!! If we stepped through 1st, then put it over our head it worked better. The volunteers gave us our schedules so everyone in the Gap camp knows who their teachers are going to be. My homeroom teacher this year is Ms. Saniz! {she is my "homeroom teacher" for the Gap camp.} I know half of my teachers already because they are at the Gap camp...

That's all until tomorrow...

BHS...day 2

Today was day 2 of the Gap camp at BHS. My group met the social studies teacher Mr. Miscasci {Mr .M}. He had us get into groups of 4-5 and write a script using 20 slang words from the 1920's. {He gave us all a sheet of paper with about 65 "slang words" on it.} Then we had to preform them in front of the rest of the group. I didn't like doing that. After that we went into the cafeteria where all 80 of us met Mrs. Boyd, the reading teacher. When she was done we played a game where the whole group got into a circle and sat sideways on their chair. {Our right side of our body was facing the back of the chair.} Then we laid down on the person behind us. The volunteers slowly pulled all of our chairs out so we only had each others legs to keep us up. Mckinie was on me and she slipped off once. The volunteers helped her {and the few others who fell as well} up and fixed the circle. Then they pulled the last chair out...BUT...Jarrett pushed his knee up which made Mikela fall AND caused the domino affect. Everyone fell! SO...for 3 SECONDS we were standing/laying on each other in a circle!! It was REALLY cool!
~Some of the student government came and talked to us about the different kinds of clubs that BHS has. There is over 100 clubs to choose from!

Today was REALLY fun over all! I can't wait for tomorrow...

BHS

At Brandon High School this week there is a camp going on called the Gap camp... I went along with my friends Mckinzie and Mikela. The camp started at 8am and ended at 12:30. It was really fun. We met some of the freshman teachers and other faculty members. There are about 80 incoming freshman total and we are spilt into 5 groups. There are volunteers who are in charge of each group. They are incoming juniors and seniors.
~We have a "homeroom" each morning for 30 minutes where we work on study skills. My groups homeroom teacher is Ms. Sainz (pronounced "signs").
~Then we went to Ms. Kolzowski {Ms. K} for math. we made an optical illusion using a ruler and a daisy using a compass.
~The volunteers took us to the cafeteria where we had a snack and met the faculty members.
~Then we went back to our groups where we made a "human knot" by putting our arms over each other and holding the hand of the person two people away from us. Then we had to "unknot" and form a circle without letting go. My group made a figure 8, but not a circle. With all 80 of us we got in a circle and held hands. The teachers told us to keep 5 balloons in the air without letting go. It was a lot of fun.

"Cupookie Creation"

~so tonight, I spent the night at Mckinzie's house. It was a little boring in the beginning, but things took a turn when we decided to make our own cookies without using any recipe. It was gonna come from our OWN minds.
~{cup-ookie}:" noun; the mix between a cupcake and a cookie."
~the #1 rule in making our cupookies is to use ingredients you have at hand.
~We just kinda brainstormed about what would taste good in a normal cookie. We, to be a little bit vague about it, used some things like hersheys syrup and red sprinkles. And then, the basics... you know what they are{milk, eggs, ect.}. We wont elaborate on the ingredients or directions, but we want to point out one of our discoveries during our experiment. When working with the sprinkles and a few other ingredients, our small side bowl ended up looking like strawberry milk. That, actually, made our recipe even more special. And in the end, we had spots of red in the cupookie!! So, your probably wondering how in the world we came up with the name " cupookie." Well, its quite simple. Our mixture of ingredients ended up a little too runny, so we decided to use one of those cupcake pans with the paper holders!! :) So, after a bit of this and that, ( very original ideas I might add) we baked them. Well, when we took them out ate ate one, we found they were a bit mushy in the center. They were a little flat and they looked kinda like a cookie. Since they were made in a cupcake pan, but looked like a cookie we named them cupookies!! We let the 2nd batch cook a little longer and they came out fluffy and perfect! Then, when that batch was done, we put the original batch back in to bake some more. Thus, Mckinzie and I created the cupookie. ( My made up recipe, our Brains, Mckinzie writing down the measurements, our handywork, and our creation...) And just so you know...we did this at 1:00 in the morning and they were delicious!! :)

Courtney...

Courtney is going to VA today. She is leaving at 6 am. I am very sad that she has to move. Her birthday is in a couple days and her friends in FL can't even celebrate it with her. :(

I'm Bored...

I am so bored. Summer is usually fun but with the high gas prices we haven't been able to do as much. The rain is getting on my nerves. I can not get a hold of my friend Courtney who is moving to VA. :( I made a scrapbook for her with pictures of all her FL friends and want to give it to her before she moves (sometime this week). Her home phone is disconnected and no one else knows if she when she will be at home. I want to go swimming, but we don't have a pool...I am writing this for no reason...well, other than the fact that I am really bored.

Mikela's Birthday Party

My friend Mikela had a sleepover from Friday to Saturday (11th-12th) for her birthday. It was so much fun. There were eight girls all together. On Friday night, we ate pizza and 6 of us listened to a very interesting debate between our vegetarian friend {Courtney} and our meat loving friend {Bailey}. After the debate was over we played "Imagine If". Then while we were getting our sleeping bags ready Courtney slid on a blanket into Mikela's coffee table and china cabinet. Mckinzie was attacked by one of Mikela's cats. While we were laying down one of the cats was hitting around a bottle cap, which ended up around Bailey's legs. The cat then tried to attack Bailey. Sometime between 5:30 and 7am we were all asleep! At 9:30am we all got up and ate chocolate, blueberry and banana nut muffins, along with apples, grapes, and strawberrys. Around 10:30am we were off to the mall. We went into SO many stores, but I think that the groups favorite was American Eagle, where we met Kyle. :) We ate lunch from about 3-4, and went back to Mikela's house where we waited for our parents to pick us up.

NASCAR

My favorite sport to watch is NASCAR. Some people say it's not a sport, while others consider it a way of life. Saturday (July 5, 2008) was the Coke Zero 400 for the Sprint Cup Series. My dad took my brothers, (Logan and Dalton), my mom, grandma, and I to see it. We live 2 hours away from Daytona International Speedway which was where the race was. We were at the race track at 10:00 am. The race did not start until 7:30 pm. We walked around the many trailers full of merchandise for the drivers. We made stops at all our favorites- Bobby Labonte for Logan, Tony Stewart for Dalton, Dale Earnhardt Jr. for my mom and I, and Dale Sr. for my dad. We put all the free things we got in the car and came back to the track for a late lunch/early dinner. We paid for an all you can eat buffet which had hamburgers and hotdogs with chips. The drinks were Coke products and water. After we finished eating we headed for our seats. They were on the backstretch. My dad brought scanners to listen to the drivers communicate to their crew. The race began and my brothers and I didn't once leave our seats. Our eyes were glued to the cars speeding around the oval track. With only a few laps to go, there was a wreck on the track. NASCAR tries to always have green flag finishes, so they had the pace laps and started their final laps again. Of course, someone (Jeff Gordon) wrecked. No caution was called so the drivers kept going. On the final lap there was a huge wreck and the race ended. Kyle Busch (a driver no one in my family likes) won, and my favorite driver Dale Jr. finished 8th. We dropped my grandmother off at her house and went home to sleep. By the time we got inside the house it was 4:30 am on Sunday!

Bowling

I go bowling every Monday afternoon during the summer with my brothers, Logan and Dalton, and my friend Mckinzie. Today was fun especially for Mckinzie. She got four strikes in a row...and she just started bowling on a league! She made my brothers and I laugh so hard today because she fell out of the rolling chair and then she slipped on the bowling lane! :-) But, I guess her clumsiness is one of the things that makes her a one of a kind friend!!
